The police have arrested three teachers and a pupil for alleged involvement in examination malpractices and for using the Internet to commit crimes.
The suspects are a teacher of the Okon Grammar School, Nnewi, Ibuokanma Darlington, 36; Ernest Kelechi, 33, who teaches at the Community Secondary School, Ogah, Anambra State; Mr God’s time, 35, a teacher at the Pathway Secondary School; and Uche Chukwuma, 17, a pupil of the Charry Secondary School, Rivers State.
Parading them in Abuja on Thursday, the Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, said the suspects were involved in the transmission of examination questions and answers through the social media.
He stated, “The suspects were involved in the transmission of examination questions and answers for the West African Senior Certificate Examination through the social media.
“They were all found to have snapped pictures of the examination questions and the solutions and posted them on the social media.”
Mba gave an assurance that the police would continue to partner relevant examination bodies in the country to stamp out malpractices.
Ibuokanma denied involvement in examination malpractices, stating that he merely snapped the questions with his phone for revision with pupils later in the evening.
Kelechi admitted that the pictures of the questions were found on his phone, but denied culpability, stating that he did not know how the images got onto his phone.
