Liverpool Women goalkeeper, Fran Kitching has suffered a horrific cut to the face while training last week.
She described the wound as “the worst injury I’ve ever had.”
The Reds got their first league victory of the season on Sunday, when they beat Bristol City 1-0 to escape the relegation zone, but the goalkeeper was absent due to her injury.
Kitching, 21, took to Instagram to address the situation before her team-mates took to the pitch.
“After a lot of swelling and pain (and looking like a cabbage patch doll) I can finally say I’m feeling a lot better.
“I’m supporting [my team-mates] every minute from home.
Kitching added that she was “ready to get back out there,” she wrote.
Kitching signed for Liverpool from Sheffield United in 2018.
